Ryan has been homebrewing since 2006. He often focuses on lagers and big beers, with a penchant for imperial stouts and pilsners. He consistently medals at the annual Big Beers competition in Breckenridge, Colorado.
Ryan is a certified BJCP judge and in addition to his articles on Homebrewing DIY, his beer writing can also be found across beer publications such as Zymurgy, Beer and Brewing, Punch and Porch Drinking.
